The book, Kansas Place Names, by John Rydjord states that the town of Lebo, Kansas was named after Lebo Creek where Joe Lebo lived. He was a freighter and had been a captain in the Tenth Kansas Cavalry. It has always been told to us by the older relatives that this Joe was our Josiah.
What kind of people were Josiah and Mary Jane? The obituaries tell a little about them. If the present Leabo cousins are any indication, here are some of our better characteristics they might have shared: light hearted, sense of humor, big hearted, stubborn one second and completely flexible the next, like to talk, musically talented, hard-working, patient.
