Macoupin County Land Record, Carlinville, Ill. Book Q, 333 This Indenture, made this seventeenth 17 day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight Hundred and forty four Between Samuel Rolley and Emily Rolley his wife of the County of Macoupin and State Illinois of the first part__ And Jesse Cook of the County and State aforesaid of the second part: Witnesseth_ That the said party of the first part, for, and in consideration of the sum of the sum of Five Hundred Dollars to them in hand paid to paid by the said party of the second part, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained, sold released, and conveyed and by theae presents do grant, bargain, sell, release and convey to the said party of the second part their heirs and assigns, forever all three certain piece or parcel of Land, situate, lying and being in the County of Macoupin in and State of Illinois and known, designated, and described as follows, to Wit: Twenty two and a half acres of Land off of the north end of the north East Quarter of the north East Quarter of section Fourteen Township Eight north range six West. Also Twenty two and a half acres of land off of the north north end of the west half of the north East quarter of section Fourteen Township Eight north of Range Six West Also Forty five acres of Land off of the West side of the West half of the north East quarter of section Fourteen Township Eight north of Range Six West also Twenty acres of land off of the west side of the south west quarter of the south East quarter of section fifteen Township Eight north range six West all of said lands in the thiird principal meridian Together with all the privileges and appurtenances to the said land in any wise appertaining and belonging To have and to hold the above granted premises, to the said party of the second part, to their heirs and assign to their use and behoof forever, and the said party of the first part for themselves do covenant with the said party of the second part their heirs and assigns, that they lawfully seized in fee of the aforegranted premises That they are free from all incumbrance that they the said party of the first part have good right to sell and convey the same to the said party of the second pert as aforesaid and that they will and their heirs executors and administrators shall Warrant and defend the same, to the said party of the second part their heirs and assigns against the lawful demands of all persons In Testimony whereof The said party of the first part have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above Writing Signed, sealed, and delivered in the presence Samuel Roley {Seal} of J.S. Foster Justice of the peace in and for the County of Mac- oupin and State of Illinois Came Samuel Roley and Emily his wife person- ally known to me to be the real persons whose names are subscribed to the foregoing deed and executed the same; and they acknowledged that they signed, sealed, and delivered said deed freely and voluntarily for the uses and purposes therein mentioned. And the said Emily Roley being by me made acquainted with the contents and effect of said deed and by me examined separate and apart from her said husband she acknowledged that she executed, said deed and relinquished her right of Dower in the Lands and tenements therein mentioned and set forth freely and voluntarily, and without compulsion of her said husband Given under my hand and seal at my office in said Macoupin County, and State aforesaid, this 18 day of Sept A.D. 1844 J.S.
